Fake Caltabos
Rice is a versatile ingredient used in numerous dishes around the world. In this recipe, we aim to prepare a delicious rice pudding that can be served as an appetizer or a main course, depending on individual preferences. We start by boiling the rice in a pot with water and salt. The amount of water should be twice that of the rice, so it absorbs the liquid and becomes fluffy. Once the water begins to boil, we add the rice, stir gently, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, until the grains are soft and have absorbed all the water.
Meanwhile, we prepare another bowl in which we will combine the ingredients. Once the rice is cooked, we let it cool for a few minutes, then add it to the prepared bowl. It’s time to add the pâté, which can be meat or vegetarian, depending on personal preferences. It is recommended to choose a high-quality pâté that will add a rich flavor to the dish. Then, we crack the eggs and beat them lightly to combine well with the rice and pâté. The resulting mixture will become a homogeneous and delicious mass.
After we have mixed all the ingredients well, it is essential to season the dish with salt and pepper to taste. This step will enhance the flavors and make the pudding more savory. Once we have finished seasoning, we take a pudding mold or a baking dish and grease it with a thin layer of oil or butter to prevent sticking. We place the rice, pâté, and egg mixture into the mold, leveling it evenly with a spatula.
We preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and insert the mold with the rice mixture. We leave it in the oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until a golden and appetizing crust forms on top. It is important not to open the oven door in the first 20 minutes to allow the pudding to rise properly. Once the pudding is ready, we take it out of the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Served warm or at room temperature, this rice pudding will surely be a hit at any meal!
