Homemade Chocolate III
To create a delicious and savory dessert, start by preparing the syrup, which will serve as the sweet base of your recipe. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar, then place the mixture over moderate heat. Let it boil and reduce until you achieve a well-bound syrup. It is essential to monitor its consistency, so to check if the syrup is ready, perform the drop test: place a drop of syrup on a plate. If the drop forms a sphere and does not spread, then the syrup is perfect.
Meanwhile, prepare the dry ingredients to ensure an even integration of flavors. Sift the powdered milk into a large bowl, ensuring there are no lumps. Over the powdered milk, sift the cocoa, which will add a rich chocolate hue to your dessert. Then, add the two tablespoons of ground coffee for an extra intense flavor and mix the dry ingredients well to achieve a homogeneous composition.
In another container, cut the butter at room temperature into small cubes and add it to the powdered milk and cocoa mixture. This will help melt the butter and integrate it into the composition, providing a creamy taste and pleasant texture. When the syrup is ready, pour it hot over the dry ingredients. It is crucial to act quickly at this point, as the composition will harden very fast. Mix vigorously with a spatula or wooden spoon to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
Once you have achieved a homogeneous composition, add the rum essence, which will bring a touch of sophistication to the dessert. Mix again for the flavor to disperse evenly. After finishing, transfer the mixture to a 20x20 cm tray lined with parchment paper or greased with butter to facilitate the removal of the dessert later. Flatten the surface with a spatula to obtain an even layer.
After you have finished preparing, refrigerate the tray for a few hours until the composition hardens completely. Once the dessert is well chilled, remove it from the tray and cut it into desired portion sizes. You can sprinkle a little coconut on top to add a crunchy texture and an attractive appearance. This rich and creamy dessert will surely be a hit at both family meals and parties. Enjoy every bite and savor the perfect combination of flavors!
