Are you having a busy day, with little time or desire to cook, but still craving a delicious meal? This simple recipe for pasta with tuna and tomato sauce is the ideal solution! Easy to prepare and with readily available ingredients, this dish is sure to become a favorite on your busy days.

Necessary ingredients:
- 1 large onion (preferably red for a sweeter taste)
- 1 can of tuna in oil (about 200 g, the perfect choice for a quick protein)
- 200 ml tomato broth (or tomato sauce, for a more intense flavor)
- 1 cup of water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon of dried thyme (or fresh, if you have it on hand)
- 1 bay leaf
- 300 g pasta (I used fusilli, but you can choose your preferred type)
- Grated cheese (for an extra flavor)

Preparation instructions:

1. Start by peeling the onion. Wash it well and chop it finely. The red onion adds a sweet note and a vibrant color to the dish.

2. In a large skillet, add 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil and heat it over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 3-5 minutes. This is the moment to enjoy the developing aromas!

3. Add the broth and water. Mix well to combine all the ingredients. When the mixture starts to boil, add the dried thyme and bay leaf. Let the sauce simmer on low heat until it thickens slightly, about 10-15 minutes.

4. While the sauce is simmering, put a pot of salted water on the stove for the pasta. When the water reaches a boil, add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions. Usually, fusilli takes about 8-10 minutes to be al dente.

5. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and quickly rinse it under cold running water to stop the cooking process and maintain the perfect texture.

6. Drain the tuna from the can and add it to the tomato sauce. Let it simmer together for another 5 minutes. Adjust the taste with salt and pepper, as preferred.

7. Serve the pasta on a deep plate, then add the tuna and tomato sauce on top. For a delicious finish, grate cheese over each serving.

Serving suggestion: You can sprinkle some fresh basil or parsley for an extra touch of freshness. Also, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil before serving can enhance the flavors.

Possible variations: If you want to turn this dish into a vegetarian one, you can replace the tuna with green or black olives. Additionally, adding vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini to the sauce can provide extra texture and nutrients.

This recipe for pasta with tuna and tomato sauce is perfect for a quick dinner, without compromising on taste. Enjoy your meal, even on the busiest days!
