Classic French Toast
To prepare this delicious recipe for French toast brioche, we start by preheating the oven to a low temperature, which will help keep the brioche slices warm during serving. It is important to ensure that the temperature is just right so that the dish does not dry out.
While the oven is heating up, we dedicate ourselves to preparing the ingredients. We take a brioche or a simple loaf, which we carefully cut into thick slices of about 2-3 cm. This thickness will allow the inside of the slices to remain soft and fluffy, in contrast to the crispy exterior.
In a deep and suitable plate, we whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. It is essential to mix all the ingredients well until we obtain a homogeneous composition, so that the flavor is evenly distributed in each slice.
The brioche slices will be soaked separately in this liquid mixture, taking care to leave them for a few seconds on each side, so they absorb the flavors well.
After we finish this process, we turn our attention to the pan. We heat the butter or oil in a non-stick skillet over low heat. When the butter is completely melted and starts to sizzle slightly, we add the first slices of brioche to the pan. We fry them until they acquire a dark golden color, then flip them with a spatula and let them fry on the other side for a minute until they become crispy.
Once each slice is fried, we carefully remove them from the pan and place them in a tray that will be placed in the preheated oven. This will keep the slices warm and delicious until serving. We continue to fry the remaining slices, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, so that each slice has enough space to fry evenly.
Once all the slices are fried, we take them out of the oven and place them on a large, flat plate. We recommend serving two slices per portion to satisfy the appetite of those sitting at the table. These fried brioche are served warm, with a generous amount of maple syrup poured abundantly on top, adding an extra sweetness and flavor. This combination of textures and tastes will turn any meal into a true culinary celebration!
