Turkey Slippers
To prepare a delicious recipe of fried fish with sautéed onions, we will start by ensuring we have all the necessary ingredients at hand. We need a large onion, which will be sliced thinly to sauté evenly. Sautéed onion is essential as it will add a rich flavor and natural sweetness to our dish. We heat 80 grams of butter in a large pan, preferably one with a thick bottom, to distribute the heat evenly. We add 1/2 teaspoon of salt, which will help the onion release its juices and become glossy.
Once the onion has turned glossy, it’s time to deal with the fish. The fish can be cut into smaller pieces if they are too big to fry evenly. We place them over the sautéed onion and let them fry for 5-6 minutes on each side. It is important to ensure that the onion does not burn, so we stir occasionally. Once the fish has taken on a nice color, we add ground pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of ground coriander, which will give a special taste and specific aroma.
To check if the fish is ready, we use a fork to test its texture. If it is soft, then it’s time to add 100 ml of dry white wine and 100 ml of tomato puree. These ingredients will enrich the sauce and add a note of acidity that will balance the flavors. We also add a bay leaf, which will contribute to a deep and aromatic taste. We let everything simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors combine perfectly.
For serving, the dish pairs wonderfully with a fluffy and creamy mashed potato. Lastly, a little trick: before bringing the plate to the table, squeeze a little lemon juice over the sauce in the plate. This detail will add a touch of freshness and enhance the flavors, turning the meal into an unforgettable culinary experience. Enjoy your meal!
