In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk, adding sugar and vanilla essence. It is important that the milk is not too hot, as it could kill the yeast, and your dough will not rise. Gently stir until the yeast is completely dissolved, then let the mixture sit for a few minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large bowl, place the sifted flour, which will contribute to a fluffy texture of the dough. Add the beaten egg, baking soda, and the milk-yeast mixture. Finally, incorporate the soft butter, which will give a rich taste and a tender consistency. Start kneading the dough with your hands until it becomes smooth and easy to handle. The dough should be soft but not sticky. If necessary, you can add a little more flour, but be careful not to overdo it.
