To prepare a delicious and refined dessert, we start by preparing the baking tray. First, we grease a baking tray with oil, making sure to evenly cover the entire surface to prevent the sheets from sticking. Then, we take two sheets of filo dough and gently place them in the tray. It is important to brush each one well with an oil-soaked brush to give them a crispy and golden texture in the end. We preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and place the tray inside, allowing the sheets to brown nicely. This procedure is repeated depending on how many sheets we want to use, being careful to overlap them carefully to avoid damaging them.
While the sheets are baking, we can prepare the delicious cream. In a saucepan, we mix condensed milk with water and cornstarch, ensuring that no lumps remain. We add a few drops of cinnamon for extra flavor and a splash of orange blossom water, which will give a tempting fragrance. We put the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously to avoid burning. The cream will start to thicken, and when it reaches the desired consistency, we set it aside and let it cool slightly.
Meanwhile, we take care of the strawberries. We wash them well and chop them finely, making sure they are fresh and juicy. We add finely chopped mint and 3-4 tablespoons of sugar, mixing everything carefully so that the flavors combine harmoniously. The strawberries will become slightly syrupy, which will make the dessert even more delicious.
For assembly, we carefully cut the filo dough sheets, keeping in mind that they are very fragile, and we prepare to build the layers of the dessert. For each serving, we place a layer of sheets, followed by a few tablespoons of cream and then a generous layer of strawberries. We continue with sheets, cream, and strawberries until the end, when the last layer will consist of the sheets of dough. It is essential to play with the textures and flavors to create an appealing dessert.
After we finish assembling, we dust everything with sugar and can decorate as desired, adding mint leaves or a few slices of strawberries for an elegant appearance. The dessert is ready to be served, and the mingling flavors promise an unforgettable culinary experience. Enjoy your meal!
