Penne with Tuna and Onion
To prepare a delicious tuna pasta recipe, we will start with the necessary ingredients. You will need a medium onion, 200 grams of tuna preserved in oil or water, 200 milliliters of dry white wine, 300 grams of pasta (you can use spaghetti or fusilli), salt, pepper, olive oil, optionally 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese, and a few tablespoons of sour cream.
The first step is to prepare the onion. Wash it well, peel it, and chop it finely. In a large skillet, add a few tablespoons of olive oil and heat it over medium heat. When the oil is hot enough, add the chopped onion and sauté gently, stirring occasionally, until it becomes translucent and starts to take on a golden hue. This is the perfect time to add the tuna. If using canned tuna, drain the oil or water well, then add it to the skillet. Gently stir to combine the ingredients.
After the tuna is heated, pour the white wine into the skillet, allowing the flavors to meld. Let it simmer over medium heat for a few minutes until the alcohol from the wine evaporates and the flavors become concentrated. Now it’s time to season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste, to enhance the flavor.
Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil, adding a teaspoon of salt. When the water starts to boil, add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions, usually between 8 and 12 minutes, depending on the type of pasta. When they are ready, drain the pasta, but keep a little of the cooking water, as this can be used to adjust the sauce.
Once the pasta is cooked, add it to the skillet over the tuna and onion mixture. Carefully mix all the ingredients so that the pasta absorbs the delicious flavors of the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a few tablespoons of the reserved cooking water. Finally, if you like, you can stir in a few tablespoons of sour cream for a creamy texture.
