Turkey Steak on a Bed of Potatoes

Ingredients: 500 gr potatoes, 500 gr turkey meat (chicken breast), 300 gr smoked bacon, 200 gr mushrooms (I did not add them as I did not have them at hand), 2 pieces of onion, 1/2 teaspoon chili (if it's powder) or 1 fresh chili (I used 2 teaspoons of chili paste), grated ginger about 1 teaspoon, 1/4 teaspoon ground rosemary (fresh can also be used, a small twig), 1/2 lemon, 100 ml wine, salt, pepper.

To prepare a delicious tray of potatoes with meat and bacon, we start by preparing the ingredients. The potatoes, fresh and firm, should be carefully peeled, washed well under cold running water, and then sliced into rounds. These rounds will later be transformed into triangles of suitable size, about a bite-sized piece, to ensure even cooking and an appetizing appearance.

Next, we take care of the bacon, cutting it into thin strips, which will add extra flavor to our dish. The onion, with its unmistakable aroma, is sliced thinly so that it caramelizes beautifully during baking. The meat, preferably a piece of pork or chicken, is cut into small pieces to absorb the flavors from the tray well.

In a heated pan, we put the chopped bacon and let it melt, allowing the fat to release. When the bacon becomes golden and crispy, we add the prepared potatoes, mixing them well to brown evenly. Once the potatoes have taken on a pleasant color, we transfer them to a tray covered with aluminum foil, protecting them from drying out.

Over the potatoes in the tray, we sprinkle the onion slices, which will blend perfectly with the other ingredients. Next, we prepare a savory dressing to intensify the flavors. We mix 2 teaspoons of hot pepper paste, which will add a touch of spiciness, with 1 teaspoon of grated ginger for a fresh note, 1/4 teaspoon of ground rosemary, salt, and pepper to taste. The entire mixture is poured over the potatoes and onion in the tray, ensuring that each piece is well covered.

In the same pan where we browned the potatoes, we add the chopped meat, seasoning it with salt and pepper to bring out its flavor. Finally, we squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemon, which will add a pleasant acidity, and add 100 ml of white wine, letting the meat cook and absorb all the flavors. If you have mushrooms that you sautéed earlier, you can add them now for extra texture and flavor.

After the meat is well cooked, we pour it over the potatoes in the tray. Now, everything is ready to be put in the oven. We preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and let the dish bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the meat on top becomes golden and appetizing. The aroma that will fill the kitchen during baking will be irresistible, and the final result will be a tasty dish, perfect for a family dinner or to impress guests. Serve it hot, alongside a fresh salad, and enjoy every bite!
