Fish in the oven
To prepare a delicious fish dish, we start by ensuring we have all the necessary ingredients and utensils at hand. First, we choose a fresh fish, preferably fillets of white fish, such as cod or sea bream, which are easy to cook and have a delicate taste. After selecting the fish, we proceed to wash and clean it carefully, removing all impurities and scales. The next step is to cut the fillets, being careful to debone the fish well to avoid any remaining bones.
Once we have the fish fillets, we brush them with a drizzle of olive oil, which will not only add a pleasant flavor but will also help caramelize them during baking. Seasoning is an essential step, and I prefer to use bay leaves, salt, and coriander for a complex taste. Coriander, with its peppery and citrusy aroma, pairs perfectly with fish and adds a note of freshness, making it the ideal choice. Thus, we ensure that each piece of fish is well-seasoned and ready for cooking.
We place the fish fillets in a baking dish greased with a thin layer of oil, taking care not to overlap them, so they bake evenly. We preheat the oven to a moderate temperature of about 180 degrees Celsius and place the dish with fish inside. Baking takes about 20 minutes, during which the fish will become tender and develop a light golden crust. The aroma that will spread throughout the kitchen will be irresistible.
To serve the dish, we cut a few slices of lemon, which will add extra freshness and a pleasant contrast to the fish's flavor. Additionally, some halved cherry tomatoes will bring a touch of color and a sweet-sour taste that will harmonize perfectly with the dish. We place the fish on a platter, garnish with lemon slices and cherry tomatoes, and we are ready to enjoy this delicacy. Bon appétit!
