Pudding and Poppy Seed Tart

 Ingredients: Dough * 380 g flour * 150-200 g sugar * 200 g butter (margarine) * 1 egg * 1/2 packet baking powder * a pinch of vanilla * a pinch of salt Filling * 450 ml milk * 1 packet vanilla pudding * 100 g poppy seeds * 80 g sugar... less if the pudding powder already contains sugar * 1 packet vanilla sugar * lemon flavor

To prepare this delicious dessert, we start by mixing all the necessary ingredients for the dough. In a large bowl, we beat the eggs with the sugar, adding the soft butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. It is important to ensure that all the ingredients are well incorporated, and the mixture becomes homogeneous. Finally, we sift the flour together with the baking powder and gradually add them to the egg mixture, stirring with a spatula or wooden spoon. You will obtain a smooth and easy-to-work dough that can be shaped with ease.

Once the dough is ready, we divide it into two parts: 3/4 of the dough and 1/4 of the dough. We take a round baking pan, with a diameter of 24-26 cm, which we line with parchment paper. Using our fingers, we spread the dough in the pan, making sure it reaches the sides, up to a height of about 3 cm. This will form the perfect base for the filling.

For the filling, we mix the pudding powder with cold milk, sugar, poppy seeds, vanilla, and lemon essence. We transfer the mixture to the stove over low heat and stir constantly to prevent sticking. As the mixture begins to boil, it will thicken. It is recommended to add a teaspoon of cornstarch dissolved in water to ensure that the pudding will have a perfect texture. Once the pudding has thickened, we set it aside and let it cool slightly until it becomes warm.

After the filling is ready, we carefully pour it into the dough-lined pan, ensuring it is evenly distributed. From the remaining dough, we grate strips over the filling using a large-holed grater to create a crispy and delicious crust.

Now, it is time to put the pan in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius. We bake the dessert for about 40-45 minutes, until it becomes golden and beautiful. After it has completely cooled, we dust it with powdered sugar for an elegant look and a touch of sweetness. It is good to let the dessert sit for a day, as the dough will soften a bit, enriching its flavor and texture. Enjoy this delicacy and share it with your loved ones!
