If you are looking for a quick and delicious recipe, this shrimp curry is the perfect choice. The intense flavors, the combination of ingredients, and the speed of preparation will transform an ordinary dinner into an unforgettable culinary experience. Let’s see how we can create this simple and tasty dish!
Ingredients:
- 400 g shrimp (preferably fresh or thawed, cleaned)
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 100 ml dry white wine (you can also use a sweet wine for a more intense note)
- 4 tablespoons ketchup (for a balanced sweetness)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon curry powder (you can adjust the amount to your liking)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the ingredients: Make sure the shrimp are cleaned and ready to use. The garlic should be finely chopped to release all its flavors. If you wish, you can also add sliced chili pepper for a bit of heat.
2. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet, heat the olive or coconut oil over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the shrimp. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink. This is when the shrimp develop their flavor.
3. Add the garlic: Once the shrimp have a nice color, add the chopped garlic and continue to cook for 1 minute until the garlic turns golden and releases its aromas.
4. Wine and ketchup: Pour the white wine into the skillet, stirring well to lift any flavors from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 1 minute, then add the ketchup. This combination brings sweetness and acidity, perfectly balancing the flavors.
5. Simmering: Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat. Let it simmer on low for about 2 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld and the shrimp to cook evenly.
6. Finishing: Check if the shrimp are well cooked; they should be opaque and juicy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you want a stronger curry flavor, you can add an extra teaspoon of curry powder.
Serving:
Serve the shrimp curry hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves for an extra touch of freshness. This dish pairs perfectly with basmati rice or warm naan bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
Variations:
To add more texture, you can include vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, or carrots, finely chopped, to be added during cooking. If you prefer a spicier version, you can add chili flakes or even chili sauce.
Personal suggestion: This shrimp curry goes wonderfully with a glass of refreshing white wine, turning the meal into a true feast for the senses. Try making this recipe on the weekend when you have more time to enjoy the cooking process and its fantastic aromas. Bon appétit!
