Who doesn't love a well-made beef salad? This iconic dish has become a star not only on festive tables but also every day, thanks to its versatility. Originating from culinary traditions that blend diverse influences, the beef salad never disappoints. It is a mix of fresh vegetables, succulent meat, and a creamy dressing that gives it an unmistakable flavor.

Ingredients for the salad:
- 5 medium-sized potatoes
- 3 large carrots
- 1 chicken breast (approximately 400 g)
- 1 jar of pickled cucumbers (approximately 500 g)
- 1 jar of pickled peppers (approximately 500 g)
- 400 g of peas (preferably canned, but fresh is even better)
- 200 g of mixed Mexican vegetables (frozen or canned)
- 5 eggs
- Oil (approximately 300 ml)
- 1 teaspoon of mustard
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste

Ingredients for the mayonnaise:
- 3 hard-boiled eggs
- 2 raw egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon of mustard
- Oil (approximately 300 ml)
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt, to taste

Preparing the mayonnaise:
1. Start by boiling 3 eggs for about 10 minutes until they are hard. Then, place them under a cold water stream to stop the cooking process.
2. Separate the two remaining eggs, keeping only the yolks. Once the boiled eggs have cooled, peel them and mash the yolks with a fork in a bowl.
3. Add the 2 raw yolks to the bowl and mix well with a wooden spoon.
4. Begin to add the oil gradually, mixing continuously. It is essential to add the oil slowly to prevent the mayonnaise from separating.
5. Once you have achieved a creamy consistency, add the mustard and lemon juice. Continue to mix until the mayonnaise becomes smooth and tasty. Add salt to taste.

Preparing the salad:
1. Boil the potatoes and carrots in their skins in salted water for about 20-25 minutes, or until tender. Make sure not to overcook them to avoid them falling apart.
2. In a separate pot, boil the chicken breast for about 20 minutes. I recommend adding a bit of salt and spices to enhance the flavor.
3. After boiling, peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Once the chicken is cooked, allow it to cool, then cut it into cubes as well.
4. Peel the boiled carrots and cut them into similarly sized cubes.
5. If using frozen or canned peas, make sure to drain them well. If using fresh peas, boil them for a few minutes until tender.
6. Mix all the vegetables and meat in a large bowl. Add the diced pickles and peppers, as well as the mixed Mexican vegetables. Once everything is well combined, add the previously prepared mayonnaise.
7. Carefully mix everything using a spatula or wooden spoon to avoid crushing the ingredients.

Serving and suggestions:
Beef salad is served cold, usually on a generous platter, decorated with slices of olives or sprigs of fresh parsley. It is perfect to be enjoyed as an appetizer or side dish, alongside a slice of toasted bread or as part of a festive meal.

A personal idea that I love is to add some cubes of feta cheese or parmesan for a more intense flavor. You can also experiment with other vegetables, such as celery or bell peppers, to add a touch of freshness.

Nutritional benefits:
Beef salad is an excellent source of protein due to the chicken breast and eggs, while fresh vegetables contribute to the intake of vitamins and minerals. It also contains fiber from the vegetables, which is essential for healthy digestion.

Frequently asked questions:
1. Can I replace the chicken breast with another type of meat?
- Absolutely! You can use beef or even ham, depending on your preferences.
2. How can I keep the beef salad longer?
- Store the salad in an airtight container in the fridge. It can last up to 3 days, but the best flavor is within the first 48 hours.
3. Is it possible to make mayonnaise without eggs?
- Yes, you can use vegan mayonnaise or try making an avocado-based dressing for a healthy alternative.

In conclusion, beef salad is a versatile and beloved recipe that can be adapted to everyone's taste. Once you master the technique, you can experiment with your favorite ingredients, making each dish a unique masterpiece. So put on your apron, prepare the ingredients, and enjoy this culinary delicacy!
