Spicy Meatballs with Onion
These delicious meatballs are a perfect choice for a quick and flavorful dinner. I will present you with a simple yet flavorful recipe that will turn an ordinary meal into a feast. Start by preparing the necessary ingredients. You need 500 grams of minced meat - you can use pork, beef, or a combination of both, depending on your preferences. Then, peel and finely chop two onions, which will add a sweet taste and a pleasant texture to the meatballs.
In a large bowl, combine the minced meat with the onion, add 1/2 teaspoon of ground chili pepper to bring a hint of spiciness, but adjust the amount according to your tolerance for chili. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste, then add two tablespoons of dried marjoram to intensify the flavor. The marjoram will bring a Mediterranean taste, full of freshness. Don’t forget about a tablespoon of sweet paprika, which will provide a beautiful color and a smoky aroma, characteristic of traditional dishes. Finally, add an egg, which will help bind the ingredients and give a fluffy texture to the meatballs.
Knead the mixture well, so that all the ingredients combine evenly. It’s important to use your hands to feel the consistency; if it’s too soft, you can add a little breadcrumbs. Once you have obtained a homogeneous paste, form smaller, slightly flattened meatballs, so they fry evenly.
Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan, so that the meatballs are partially covered by oil during frying. When the oil is hot, carefully add the meatballs, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them on both sides until they become golden and crispy, then remove them onto a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
These meatballs can be served alongside a simple melted butter sauce with fresh basil, which will add a rich flavor and more aromas. Alternatively, a mustard sauce can provide a spicy and refreshing note. Enjoy your meal!
