Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 0 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes
Number of servings: 20 balls
Ingredients
For the ball mixture:
- 500 g popular biscuits (preferably with a crunchy texture)
- 200 g nut milk spread
- 1 jar (approx. 300 g) of blueberry jam
- 75 g shelled sunflower seeds
- 100 g oat bran
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 50 g milk sugar
- 1 packet of rum-flavored sugar
- 1 bottle of rum essence
For the glaze:
- 200 g white chocolate with coconut flakes
- 100 g milk chocolate
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 50 ml milk
For decoration:
- Colorful sugar candies
- Skewers (cut in half)
Preparation technique
1. Preparing the ball mixture:
Start by crushing the popular biscuits. You can use a food processor to achieve a fine texture. If you don’t have a food processor, place the biscuits in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin. This step is essential for obtaining uniform balls.
2. Mixing the ingredients:
In a large bowl, add the blueberry jam, nut milk spread, shelled sunflower seeds, oat bran, vanilla sugar, milk sugar, rum-flavored sugar, and rum essence. Mix well with your hands until you achieve a homogeneous mixture. Make sure all ingredients are well integrated; the texture should be moist but not sticky.
3. Forming the balls:
From the obtained mixture, form balls of the desired size (approximately 2-3 cm). Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Don’t forget to leave some space between them to avoid sticking.
4. Adding the skewers:
Insert a skewer into each ball, making sure it doesn’t touch the bottom of the tray. This detail will turn them into mini cake pops, easy to eat and serve.
5. Preparing the glaze:
In a small saucepan, melt the white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate together with the milk over low heat. Stir constantly to avoid burning the chocolate. Once the chocolate is melted and homogeneous, remove the saucepan from the heat.
6. Glazing the balls:
Dip the balls into the chocolate glaze, ensuring they are evenly coated. Then, decorate them with colorful candies before the glaze hardens. Place the balls in a container, leaving space between them.
7. Cooling:
Let the balls sit at room temperature until the glaze has completely hardened. This process takes about 30 minutes.
Chef's tip:
For an even more interesting taste and texture, you can add some shredded coconut or ground almonds to the ball mixture. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate for the glaze, depending on your preferences. The balls are excellent as a quick dessert for festive meals, but also as a small gift for friends and family.
Possible variations:
- Cocoa balls: Instead of popular biscuits, you can use cocoa biscuits to intensify the flavor.
- Vegan balls: Replace the spread with a vegan version and use dairy-free dark chocolate for the glaze.
Nutritional benefits:
These balls are high in nuts and seeds, providing healthy proteins, fiber, and beneficial fats. The blueberry jam adds a touch of antioxidants, while the oat flakes are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates.
Frequently asked questions:
- Can I use another type of jam?
Yes, you can experiment with other types of jam, such as raspberry or strawberry, to change the flavors.
- How can I store the balls?
The balls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. If you want to keep them longer, I recommend freezing them.
Serving:
These festive balls are perfect for serving at parties or gatherings with friends. You can place them on a beautiful platter, alongside a glass of mulled wine or a fragrant tea, to create a festive atmosphere.
Enjoy every moment spent in the kitchen and the taste of these delicious Christmas balls. Bon appétit!
