Marinated Garlic with Thyme Flavor
Ingredients: For 1 bottle of 750 ml: -500 g garlic cloves, peeled -1/3 tablespoon coarse salt -3 sprigs of thyme -500 ml olive oil
To prepare a delicious garlic specialty preserved in olive oil with thyme flavors, we start by gathering the necessary ingredients. You will need 10-12 cloves of fresh garlic, a sprig of fresh thyme, 500 ml of extra virgin olive oil, and of course, salt, preferably sea salt. It is important to choose a quality olive oil, as it will influence the final taste of the dish.
The first step is to bring about a liter of water to a boil in a large pot, adding a teaspoon of salt. When the water starts to boil, add the cloves of garlic, which should be peeled but left whole. Let them boil for 5 minutes; this process will help soften the garlic and reduce the intensity of its flavor, making it milder and more pleasant for the taste buds.
After 5 minutes, remove the garlic cloves from the water using a slotted spoon and let them drain well in a bowl. Once they have cooled, start preparing the bottles in which you will preserve the garlic. Make sure the bottles are very clean, and for added safety, you can sterilize them with hot water.
Place the garlic cloves in the bottles, interspersing them with sprigs of fresh thyme. The fresh aroma of thyme will give a Mediterranean touch to your dish. Once the garlic and thyme are arranged in the bottle, carefully pour in the olive oil, so that it completely covers the ingredients. It is important that the garlic is fully submerged to prevent mold from forming.
After adding the oil, seal the bottles tightly and ensure they are well sealed. Place them in a cool, dark place, such as a pantry or cupboard, where the temperature is constant. It is recommended to let the garlic infuse in the oil for at least 2-3 weeks before consuming it, to allow the flavors to fully develop.
After this period, the preserved garlic will be ready to use. You can add it to salads, sauces, pasta, or even on pizza, to enhance the flavor of your dishes. It is a simple and delicious way to preserve the aroma of garlic, and the bottles will also add a rustic and elegant touch to your table. Enjoy your culinary creation!
