Caramelized Apple Cake: A Sweet Delight Made with Love
Who doesn’t love a fluffy cake with enticing aromas of caramelized apples that melts in your mouth? This apple cake recipe is an excellent choice for any occasion, whether it’s a gathering with friends or a quiet evening at home. Over time, this cake has been enhanced with various ingredients, but today I will present my personalized version, which includes raisins and semolina for added texture and flavor.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Baking time: 30-35 minutes
Total time: 55-60 minutes
Number of servings: 10
Ingredients:
- 1 kg apples (preferably Golden variety or any other variety you have on hand)
- 5 large eggs
- 150 g margarine (or butter, if you prefer)
- 400 g sugar (you can adjust the amount according to your taste)
- 250 g flour
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 100 g raisins (optional)
- 50 g semolina (optional)
Preparing the cake:
1. Preparing the apples:
Start by peeling the apples, then remove the core using a special tool. Cut the apples into thin slices for even caramelization. It is recommended to use sweeter apples, which will naturally add a pleasant taste to the cake.
2. Caramelizing the apples:
In a baking dish, add 75 g of margarine and place it in the preheated oven at 180°C for a few minutes until melted. Once the margarine is melted, add the apple slices, sprinkle 200 g of sugar on top, along with the raisins, cinnamon, and semolina. These ingredients will add a touch of sweetness and pleasant texture. Leave the apples in the oven for 10-15 minutes until they start to soften and turn golden.
3. Preparing the batter:
In a large bowl, cream the remaining margarine (75 g) with 200 g of sugar until the mixture becomes creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder and gradually add this combination to the egg mixture. Stir until you obtain a homogeneous batter.
4. Assembling the cake:
After the apples have caramelized, remove the dish from the oven and pour the batter evenly over the apples. Make sure the batter completely covers the apples for an even cake. Return the cake to the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until it turns golden and passes the toothpick test (insert a toothpick into the center of the cake; if it comes out clean, the cake is ready).
5. Cooling and serving:
After the cake is baked, let it cool in the dish for about 10 minutes, then turn it onto a serving plate. You can sprinkle powdered sugar on top for an elegant look. This cake is best served warm, with a spoon, and is perfect alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a cup of fragrant tea.
Practical tips:
- If you want a less sweet cake, adjust the sugar amount to 300 g. The apples already add natural sweetness.
- You can replace margarine with butter for a richer taste, but keep in mind that margarine has a lower melting point, resulting in a fluffier cake.
- If you prefer, you can add chopped nuts or almonds for extra crunch.
Nutritional benefits:
Apples are rich in fiber and vitamins, especially vitamin C, and are known for their antioxidant properties. This cake, although a dessert, can be a pleasant way to include fruit in your daily diet.
Frequently asked questions:
- Can I use other types of fruit instead of apples?
Yes, pears or peaches are excellent alternatives that caramelize just as well as apples.
- How can I store the cake?
The cake can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days in an airtight container. You can also freeze it, but it is recommended to consume it fresh to enjoy its fluffy texture.
This caramelized apple cake is not just a simple recipe, but also an opportunity to create delicious memories with loved ones. I invite you to try it and enjoy its enticing aroma and flavor!
