Hungarian Muffins
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius, ensuring the temperature is even for perfect baking. Prepare the baking molds: either line them with parchment paper or grease them with butter and sprinkle a little flour to prevent the dough from sticking. This step is essential for achieving an end product that is easy to remove from the molds.
In a large bowl, mix the white flour with the baking powder and paprika, sifting these ingredients together to ensure a fine texture. Then add the cornmeal and salt, mixing everything with a spatula or whisk until the mixture becomes homogeneous. This combination of flour will give the dish a unique flavor and texture, while the paprika will add a hint of color and a slightly spicy taste.
In another container, beat the egg with the oil and sour cream until you achieve a creamy and well-incorporated mixture. This will be the wet base of the recipe, essential for binding the dry ingredients. Then, add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, gently mixing so that gluten does not develop, which could make the dish too dense.
Chop the onion finely and crush the garlic, both ingredients being essential for adding extra flavor. Cut the sausages and peppers into small cubes, integrating them into the dough mixture. These vegetables and meat will give the dish a savory taste and an interesting texture. Mix all the ingredients well, ensuring that each bite will contain an explosion of flavors.
Once the mixture is well combined, portion the dough into molds, filling them up to 2/3 of their height. This is important to allow the dishes to rise beautifully without overflowing. Sprinkle grated cheese on top, which will provide a golden and delicious crust once baked.
Place the molds in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the dishes are well-cooked and nicely browned. Check the consistency with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, they are ready. Let them cool slightly before removing them from the molds to prevent breaking. Enjoy these delights warm, alongside a fresh salad or on their own, for a meal full of flavor!
