Hawaiian Chicken
Ingredients: -500g chicken breast -2 tablespoons soy sauce -4 tablespoons sunflower oil -1 red bell pepper -3 green onions (only the green part) -300g pineapple -1 tablespoon cornstarch -salt -3 tablespoons water -2 tablespoons pineapple juice -1 teaspoon paprika
To prepare a delicious chicken breast dish with pineapple, we start by cutting the chicken breast into appropriately sized pieces. These will absorb the flavors from the marinade better. We transfer the pieces of meat into a large bowl. On top of them, we add a teaspoon of paprika, which will give them a pleasant hue and a slightly smoky taste. We continue by pouring in two tablespoons of sunflower oil, two tablespoons of soy sauce, which will add a layer of umami, and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors. We mix the ingredients very well so that each piece of meat is evenly coated with the marinade. Once we are done, we cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator, letting the meat marinate for at least 20 minutes. This step is essential to allow the flavors to penetrate deep into the meat.
In the meantime, we take care of the pineapple. We take a fresh pineapple and cut it in half. We set one half aside, while we carefully peel the other half. If you prefer, you can leave the skin on, but make sure the flesh is cut into suitable pieces to easily incorporate into the dish. We continue with the bell pepper, which we clean, wash, and cut into strips or cubes, according to preference.
In a large frying pan, we pour in two tablespoons of sunflower oil and wait until it starts to sizzle. We add the pieces of bell pepper and let them sauté for about 3 minutes until they become slightly crispy but still juicy. Then, we add the onion, which we have peeled, washed, and sliced thinly. We let the onion sauté for 2 minutes until it becomes translucent and releases its aroma. Now, it is time to add the marinated chicken pieces. It is best to discard the remaining marinade, as the meat will absorb enough flavors from the pan.
We let everything fry until the meat is well cooked and juicy. Then, we add the pieces of pineapple, which will bring a note of freshness and sweetness to the dish. In a small bowl, we mix one tablespoon of cornstarch with a few tablespoons of water and pineapple juice to create a sauce that will thicken the dish. We pour this mixture over the vegetables and meat in the pan, stirring well to evenly coat the sauce. We let it simmer a bit until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
Once the dish is ready, we take it off the heat and let it cool slightly. This dish pairs perfectly with boiled rice, which will complement the delicious flavors of the chicken with pineapple. Enjoy your meal!
