Tandoori turkey wings
Tandoori turkey wings – a flavorful delight, perfect for a savory dinner or a party with friends. This dish is easy to make, and its exotic taste will surely impress!
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Marinating time: 2 hours (or overnight for a more intense flavor)
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Total: 2 hours and 55 minutes
Number of servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 kg turkey wings
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 200 g natural yogurt
- 2 tablespoons tandoori paste (can be found in Asian stores or the spice aisle)
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 1 piece of fresh ginger (about 2 cm), grated
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Preparing the turkey wings: Start by removing the tips of the turkey wings. These can be saved for use in soup or stock. Then, cut each wing in half at the joint. This step will allow for even marination and help them cook faster.
2. Marinating: In a large bowl, mix the lemon juice with the salt to create a simple marinade. Drizzle the turkey wings with this mixture and let them marinate for 10-15 minutes. This step will help the meat become more tender and absorb the flavors.
3. Preparing the tandoori marinade: In another bowl, combine the natural yogurt, tandoori paste, crushed garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, and cayenne pepper if you want a spicier flavor. Mix well until you get a smooth paste.
4. Coating the wings: Add the turkey wings to the bowl with the tandoori marinade and ensure each piece is well coated. You can use a spoon or your hands (make sure to wash them well afterward!) to evenly distribute the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight.
5. Cooking the wings: Preheat the oven to 200°C. Place the turkey wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they do not overlap. Bake the wings for 35-40 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. If you want an even crispier crust, you can turn on the grill function for a few minutes at the end.
6. Serving: Arrange the turkey wings on a platter and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. These will not only add a color contrast but also a wonderful aroma. You can serve the wings with a light salad, mint yogurt sauce, or basmati rice.
Practical tips:
- If you want to enjoy a more intense flavor, you can add other spices to the marinade, such as cumin or turmeric.
- For a healthier option, you can use chicken or duck wings, which cook just as well.
- These tandoori turkey wings are also excellent on the grill! You can cook them on an outdoor grill for a unique smoky flavor.
