Orange cream is a delight that brings a touch of sunshine to any dessert. To begin, you will need a few basic ingredients: sugar, egg yolks, soft butter, orange zest, flour, fresh orange juice, and milk. In a generous bowl, add the sugar and egg yolks, then start to whisk them together with the butter and orange zest, using a whisk or mixer. The mixture should become a fine and airy foam, with an enticing citrus aroma.

Once you have achieved a homogeneous texture, integrate the flour, followed by the orange juice and milk. Use the whisk to gently mix everything, being careful not to form lumps. Place the pot on low heat and stir quite often to prevent sticking. When the cream starts to bubble, like muddy volcanoes, and acquires a consistency similar to that of a pudding, it is time to set it aside and work on the dough.

For the dough, combine the flour with the baking powder and chosen flavors, along with the sugar and butter. Rub these ingredients with your fingertips until they achieve a texture similar to fine sand. Now, add the eggs, continuing to mix without trying to obtain a compact dough. Use your fingers to crumble the mixture, being careful not to heat it too much. If you feel your hands are too warm, wash them with cold water and dry them before continuing.

Once you have obtained a crumbly dough, take 2/3 of it and pour it into the prepared baking tray lined with parchment paper. Make sure to distribute the dough evenly on the bottom of the tray, creating a consistent base. Over this layer, pour the orange cream, being careful to spread it evenly. If you desire a touch of chocolate, add a few tablespoons of Nutella here and there. Then, take the remaining dough and carefully crumble it on top. Preheat the oven to 180°C and place the tray in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until the dough becomes golden and firm to the touch. Let the dessert cool slightly before cutting and enjoying.
