To prepare a delicious and aromatic ginger infusion, start by choosing a fresh piece of ginger root. It is essential that the ginger is firm and has a strong, characteristic smell. Wash the root well under a stream of cold water, ensuring that you remove any impurities or dirt. If the ginger is very young, it is not necessary to peel it; a light scrub with a brush is sufficient. However, if the ginger is older, with a thicker and drier skin, peel it with a sharp knife, being careful not to waste too much of its flesh.

After peeling the ginger, chop it finely. This will help release the flavors and beneficial nutrients during the infusion. While preparing the ginger, bring 300 ml of water to a boil in a kettle or a small pot. Freshly boiled water is essential to activate the intense flavors of the ginger.

Once the water has reached boiling point, pour the chopped ginger into a special tea pot or a cup, making sure not to leave any residue. Carefully pour the hot water over the chopped ginger, covering the pot with a lid. This will help retain the heat and allow the flavors to develop fully. Let the infusion steep for about 15 minutes. The steeping time is crucial; leaving the ginger longer will yield a more concentrated and spicier drink.

After the steeping time is over, use a fine sieve to strain the liquid into the cup from which you wish to serve the drink. Now, you have a fragrant ginger tea, full of beneficial properties. To enhance the taste, add honey to your liking, which will not only sweeten the drink but also give it a delicate aroma. Alternatively, you can use brown sugar, which will add a slight caramel flavor. If you want to experiment, sprinkle a little cinnamon on top for an extra touch of flavor and warmth. This tea is not just a comforting drink but also an excellent natural remedy for colds and digestive issues. Enjoy it warm, savoring its spicy and comforting aroma!
