Cheese pie, syrup-soaked
Preparation method: Start by preheating the oven to 180 degrees Celsius to ensure that the pie will cook evenly. While the oven is heating up, prepare the baking tray you will use; line it with baking paper to prevent sticking and facilitate later cleaning. Take the four sheets of puff pastry and brush each sheet with a little oil using a pastry brush. This step will not only help achieve a crispy texture but will also add a pleasant flavor.
After greasing the sheets, carefully fold them in half and place them in the prepared tray, forming a solid base. Now it's time to make the cream cheese filling. In a bowl, combine the cheese with a pinch of salt, one egg, sugar, and vanilla sugar. Mix well until you obtain a homogeneous composition. This cream will add a creamy and flavorful note to the pie.
For an extra flavor boost, sprinkle some candied orange peel and a few raisins here and there. These ingredients will provide a pleasant contrast of textures and flavors. After adding the cream cheese and aromatic ingredients, cover everything with another four folded sheets, which you will brush again with the beaten egg. Boil the mixture for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely. Once the pie is ready and you have taken it out of the oven, carefully remove the baking paper from underneath.
Cut the pie into squares and pour the hot syrup over each piece, being careful not to burn yourself. Let the pie cool slightly before serving it with your loved ones.
