Welcome to the aromatic world of sweet breads and homemade desserts! Today, I will guide you through the steps to prepare a delicious braided bread with Finetti, a simple recipe that combines the flavor of chocolate with the fresh scent of orange. This dessert is not only a treat for your taste buds but also a wonderful way to create special moments with your loved ones.

The history of braids is one of tradition, often associated with celebrations and moments of joy. These baked delights are often prepared in families, and each recipe carries a personal touch, a story passed down from generation to generation. By making this braid, you not only satisfy your sweet cravings but also create unforgettable memories.

Ingredients:

- 3 eggs
- 800 g flour
- 150 g sugar
- 1 packet of dry yeast
- 400 ml milk
- a pinch of salt
- 30 ml oil
- grated zest of one orange
- one jar of Finetti (approximately 350 g)

Preparation Steps:

1. Sifting the flour: Start by sifting the flour into a large bowl. This will help aerate the flour, ensuring that your dough will be fluffy and light.

2. Preparing the starter: In a small bowl, mix the yeast with 100 ml of warm milk, a teaspoon of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of flour. Mix well and let it rise for 15-20 minutes. This is the stage where the yeast will do its job, becoming active.

3. Heating the milk: Meanwhile, heat the remaining 300 ml of milk, adding the sugar. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves. Finally, add the grated orange zest, which will add an extra layer of flavor.

4. Beating the eggs: In another bowl, beat the egg whites until you achieve a firm foam. Lightly beat the yolks to activate them.

5. Combining the ingredients: In the center of the sifted flour, make a well and pour in the risen starter. Then add the beaten yolks and the flavored milk. Mix the ingredients with a spatula or with your hands, gradually adding the beaten egg whites until everything is well combined.

6. Kneading the dough: Gradually add the oil and knead the dough for about 10 minutes. It should become elastic and no longer stick to your hands. If it is too sticky, you can add a little more flour, but be careful not to overdo it to avoid a tough dough.

7. Proofing: Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in volume (about 1 hour).

8. Shaping the braid: Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal parts. Roll out each piece of dough on a floured surface until you obtain a rectangle. Spread each rectangle generously with Finetti, then roll each piece tightly.

9. Braiding the rolls: Take the two rolls and braid them carefully. Place the resulting braid in a round baking pan lined with parchment paper.

10. Proof again: Let the braid rise again for 30 minutes, covered with a towel.

11. Glazing and baking: Preheat the oven to 180°C. Brush the top of the braid with a yolk mixed with 2 tablespoons of milk to achieve a golden and appetizing crust. Bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes. Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center – if it comes out clean, it's ready!

12. Cooling: After baking, cover the braid with a towel and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it and let it cool completely on a rack.

Serving and Variations: This Finetti braid is perfect for serving at breakfast or as a dessert, alongside a cup of coffee or tea. You can also add chopped nuts or hazelnuts to the filling for added texture. Additionally, you can experiment with other types of chocolate or spreads, such as Nutella or hazelnut cream.

Useful tips:
- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better incorporation.
- If you don't have time to wait for proofing, you can use fresh yeast, which acts faster.
- This recipe is versatile – you can add various flavors, such as cinnamon or vanilla, to give it a personal touch.
