Edible Candles for Christmas
To prepare a delicious biscuit salami, we start by crushing the biscuits. They can be crushed either with a rolling pin or with the help of a food processor, depending on your preference. The crushed biscuits are then transferred to a large bowl. We add yogurt and cocoa over them, the key ingredients that will provide a rich taste and a pleasant texture. It is important to knead the mixture well, so that all the ingredients combine perfectly. If we notice that the mixture is too dry, we can add the two tablespoons of milk to achieve the ideal consistency.
Once we have obtained a homogeneous mixture, we divide the dough into four parts: two larger and two smaller, thus forming the pieces of salami. Each piece will be carefully wrapped in cling film, making sure they are well sealed to retain their aroma. They will be left in the refrigerator for at least two hours to firm up and develop their flavor.
While the salami is cooling, it’s time to prepare the glaze. We cut the chocolate into small pieces and divide it in half. One half will be melted in the microwave on low power, making sure to stir occasionally to prevent burning. The other half will be kept for later. Before applying the glaze, we add a pine nut or half an almond on top of each piece of salami for extra texture and an attractive appearance.
After taking the two pieces of salami out of the refrigerator, we coat them with the white chocolate glaze, making sure to cover all parts well. The glaze doesn’t need to be perfectly smooth, but should add a rustic and authentic touch. It is essential to work quickly with the chocolate, as it sets rapidly. Then, we return to the chocolate we set aside, melt it, and add food coloring in the desired shade, whether red or another color.
With this colored glaze, we coat the other two pieces of salami, giving them a festive look. Once we are done, we let all the pieces cool in the refrigerator until the glaze dries completely. This simple yet delicious dessert is perfect for holidays. So, get ready to enjoy a biscuit salami that will impress anyone, bringing a touch of magic to every meal! Happy holidays!
