Leek Tart
The recipe we propose today is a delicious leek and smoked ham tart, a perfect choice for a savory lunch or a family dinner. We start by cleaning the leeks, removing the first leaves, which can be tougher. After cleaning, we slice the leeks into thin rounds to ensure they cook evenly. Then, in a large pot, we bring salted water to a boil and add the sliced leeks. We will let the leeks boil for 10 minutes until they become tender, then we drain them well, making sure there is no excess water, and let them cool to room temperature.
In parallel, we prepare the pork breast or smoked ham, which we cut into small cubes. We heat a pan over medium heat and add the ham cubes, frying them until they become golden and crispy. The aroma of the smoked ham will blend perfectly with that of the leeks, bringing a savory taste to our dish.
In a separate bowl, we whisk the whole eggs with a whisk until we achieve a homogeneous mixture. We add the liquid cream, a pinch of salt, and pepper to taste, mixing everything well. This combination will give the tart a creamy texture and a perfect taste.
To assemble the tart, we take a round baking dish with a diameter of about 28 cm, in which we spread the tart dough. It is important to ensure that the dough is evenly spread over the entire surface of the dish, and on the bottom, we make a few holes with a fork to prevent the dough from puffing up during baking.
Over the prepared dough, we add the well-drained leeks and the fried ham cubes, distributed evenly. Then, we pour the egg and cream mixture over the ingredients in the dish, ensuring that all the ingredients blend harmoniously.
Finally, we sprinkle grated cheese on top, which will add a golden and delicious crust. The dish is placed in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius and baked for about 25 minutes, until the tart becomes golden and firm.
Once ready, we let the tart cool slightly before slicing it. Served warm or at room temperature, this leek and smoked ham tart will surely be a hit at any meal. Enjoy your meal!
