Baking time: 40 minutes
Total time: 1 hour
Number of servings: 8

This apple pie is a quick and easy dessert, perfect for any occasion, from an afternoon snack to a sweet ending to a family dinner. With a flaky crust and juicy apple filling, this recipe will quickly become your favorite. Let's see how to make it!

Ingredients for the pie crust:
- 400 g flour (you can use white or whole wheat flour for a richer taste)
- 200 g cold butter (cut into cubes)
- 100 g sugar (preferably brown sugar for a deeper flavor)
- 1 egg
- 1 pinch of salt
- 50 ml cold water (may need more or less depending on the type of flour)

Ingredients for the filling:
- 1 kg apples (choose sweet and tart apples, such as Granny Smith or Golden Delicious)
- 100 g sugar (adjust the amount based on the acidity of the apples)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for a flavorful taste)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent the apples from browning and for a fresh taste)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch (to thicken the filling)

Preparation:

1. Pie crust: In a large bowl, add the flour and cold butter. Rub them together with your fingers until you achieve a sandy texture. This step is essential for getting a flaky and delicious crust.

2. Add the sugar, egg, and salt. Mix well with a wooden spoon, then start adding cold water gradually until the dough begins to come together. Don’t overdo the water; the dough should be slightly sticky but not wet.

3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. This step will help relax the gluten, making it easier to roll out.

4. Filling: Meanwhile, peel the apples, remove the seeds, and slice them thinly. Place them in a bowl and add the sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well to combine the flavors.

5. Assembling the pie: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Remove the dough from the refrigerator and divide it into two parts, one slightly larger than the other. Roll out the first portion on a floured surface to create a disc large enough to cover the bottom and sides of a pie dish.

6. Place the dough in the dish, add the apple filling, and then roll out the second portion of dough to cover the filling. You can make a few decorative cuts on the surface to allow steam to escape during baking.

7. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until the crust is golden and the filling starts to bubble.

8. Let the pie cool slightly before slicing.

Serving suggestion: Serve the warm apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of cream for a creamy contrast.

Possible variations: You can add pecans or hazelnuts to the apple filling for added texture. If you enjoy exotic flavors, try adding a bit of grated ginger or nutmeg.

This apple pie will not only fill the house with enticing aromas but will also bring smiles to the faces of your loved ones. Enjoy your meal!
