This delicacy, with a harmonious blend of ingredients, is ideal for any occasion, whether you want to treat your family or impress guests at a party.
Ingredients:
- 225 g flour
- 250 g margarine
- 1 l milk
- 2 packets of vanilla sugar
- 250 g sugar
- 8 eggs
Preparation:
1. Preparing the margarine: Start by cutting the margarine into small cubes and placing it in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it for about 1 minute until completely melted. It is important not to leave it too long in the microwave to avoid burning. Once melted, let it cool slightly.
2. Beating the egg whites: In another bowl, add a pinch of salt over the egg whites from the 8 eggs. Use an electric mixer to beat them until stiff peaks form. It is essential that the bowl and utensils are completely clean and dry to achieve perfect peaks.
3. Mixing the ingredients: In a large bowl, add the egg yolks from the 8 eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar. Mix well until you have a homogeneous and light-colored mixture. Then, incorporate the melted margarine, gently stirring to avoid losing air from the mixture.
4. Incorporating the flour and milk: Sift the flour to avoid lumps and gradually add it to the yolk mixture. Alternately, add the milk, stirring constantly until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous mixture. It is important to have no lumps, so be patient and mix well.
5. Adding the egg whites: Now, carefully fold the beaten egg whites into the above mixture using a spatula. Start by adding one third of the egg whites to lighten the mixture, then add the rest, mixing with circular motions, from top to bottom, to avoid losing air from the foam.
6. Baking the cake: Preheat the oven to 180°C. Pour the mixture into a baking tray lined with parchment paper or greased with margarine. Bake the cake for about 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. It is essential not to open the oven door in the first 30 minutes of baking to avoid the cake falling.
7. Cooling and serving: Once the cake is baked, let it cool in the tray for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. You can sprinkle powdered sugar on top for an elegant look or serve it with vanilla sauce or fresh fruit.
Serving suggestion: This cake is delicious both plain and accompanied by a scoop of ice cream or chocolate sauce. You can also add caramelized fruits (such as pears or peaches) for an extra flavor.
Possible variations: You can experiment with different flavors by adding lemon or orange zest to the yolk mixture for a refreshing citrus taste. You can also replace margarine with butter for a richer flavor.
This smart cake is not only easy to prepare but will surely become a favorite among your loved ones. Enjoy every slice and savor the compliments received!
