Roary Cake: A Sweet Adventure on Wheels

When it comes to celebrating a special moment, nothing compares to a customized cake that not only delights the eyes but also the taste buds. Today, I will tell you how I created a special cake, known in our family as 'Roary Cake', in honor of my son Andu, who decided that toy cars are the coolest things on the planet. Even though I tried to explain to him that the cake isn't really called that, it was more effective to respect his joy. So, let's embark on a recipe that will bring smiles to the faces of our loved ones!

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 30 minutes
Total time: 1 hour
Number of servings: 10

Ingredients:

For the sponge:
- 6 eggs
- 6 tablespoons of sugar
- 6 tablespoons of flour
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa
- a pinch of salt

For the milk cream:
- 1 liter of milk
- 100 g white chocolate
- 100 g starch
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 200 g butter, at room temperature
- 100 g powdered sugar
- 1 vanilla pod or vanilla essence

For the syrup:
- ½ cup milk
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 packet of caramel cappuccino

For decoration:
- milk powder paste (or whipped cream, to taste)

Preparation:

1. Preparing the sponge:
Start by separating the egg whites from the yolks. In a large bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until they double in volume and become frothy. This is an essential step to obtaining a fluffy sponge! Gradually add the sugar while continuously mixing until the mixture becomes glossy.

2. Adding dry ingredients:
Incorporate the yolks one by one, mixing gently. Then, sift the flour and cocoa directly into the mixture and gently fold to avoid losing the air.

3. Baking the sponge:
Pour the mixture into a round cake pan lined with parchment paper. Bake at a low temperature (about 160 degrees Celsius) for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Once the sponge has cooled, cut it into three equal parts.

4. Making the cream:
In a small bowl, dissolve the starch in a glass of cold milk. Bring the remaining milk to a boil along with the sugar, broken pieces of chocolate, and vanilla. Once the milk begins to boil, add the starch in a thin stream, continuously stirring to avoid lumps. Continue stirring until the cream thickens, similar to pudding. Turn off the heat and let it cool.

5. Preparing the butter:
In another bowl, mix the softened butter with the powdered sugar until smooth. Once the milk cream has cooled, add it to the butter and mix again until you have a smooth cream. Chill the cream for a few minutes.

6. Preparing the syrup:
In a small pot, caramelize the sugar until it turns golden, then add the milk and caramel cappuccino. Mix well and let it cool.

7. Assembling the cake:
Start by soaking the first sponge layer with syrup, adding a layer of cream on top. Repeat this process with the second sponge and the remaining cream, leaving the last sponge unsoaked. This will be the 'roof' of your toy car.

8. Shaping the car:
Now comes the fun part! Use a few tablespoons of cream to stick various shapes made from milk powder paste or whipped cream onto the cake to create the look of a toy car. Be creative! You can add details like wheels or chocolate windows.

Serving suggestions:
To add extra flavor, you can serve the cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a caramel sauce. This will perfectly complement the sweetness of the cake and add a touch of indulgence.

Nutritional benefits:
This cake, rich in eggs and white chocolate, provides a source of protein and antioxidants thanks to the cocoa. Although it is a dessert that contains sugar and fats, enjoyed in moderation, it can be part of a balanced diet.

Frequently asked questions:

1. Can I replace white chocolate with another type of chocolate?
Of course! You can use dark chocolate for a more intense flavor.

2. What if I don't have starch?
You can use flour instead of starch, but the texture of the cream will be slightly different.

3. How long does the cake last?
The cake keeps well in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, covered to prevent drying out.

4. Is this a recipe easy to adapt?
Absolutely! You can add fruits between the layers or experiment with different flavors of vanilla or flavorings.

Creating this Roary cake was a true pleasure, and the result was not just a cake, but a sweet memory for Andu and our family. Whether you are celebrating another year or simply want to treat yourself, this toy car cake recipe will surely bring smiles and joy to the hearts of your loved ones. So don't hesitate any longer, put on your apron and unleash your creativity in the kitchen!
