To make a delicious braided bread recipe, we start by preparing the dough, which can be done either in a bread machine or by hand. If you choose to use a bread machine, add the ingredients in the order specified by the manufacturer: warm water, yeast, sugar, salt, oil, and flour. Set the program for the dough and let it knead for about 10 minutes. If you decide to knead by hand, in a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients, then gradually add the warm water and oil, kneading vigorously for 15-20 minutes until the dough becomes elastic and smooth.

Once the dough is ready, let it rest in a warm place, covered with a damp towel, for one hour, until it doubles in volume. After this period, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and divide it into four equal portions. Each portion will become a strand, which will then be braided. Start by forming strands about 30 centimeters long, making sure they are even and not too thick.

Braid the strands according to the instructions: the first strand of dough, which is on the left, will go under the third strand, which remains in position, then it will be placed on the right, next to the fourth strand. Continue this braiding process, alternating the strands, until you have finished creating the entire braid. Even those inexperienced will find this process fun and satisfying.

After you finish the braid, let it rise again for about 30 minutes, covered with a towel. This will allow the dough to become fluffy and airy. Before putting it in the oven, brush the surface of the bread with a beaten egg or milk to achieve a golden and shiny crust. Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top, depending on your preferences, for an extra touch of flavor and texture.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when you tap it gently on the bottom. Let it cool slightly before slicing. This braided bread will be perfect to serve alongside various dishes or simply spread with butter. Enjoy!
