I invite you to enjoy a delicious apple pie, perfect for fasting days. This simple and quick recipe will bring the flavor of autumn in every bite. Let's see together how to prepare this delicacy!

Ingredients:

- 20 tablespoons warm water
- 18 tablespoons sunflower oil
- 1 cube of fresh yeast (or 7 g dry yeast)
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- A pinch of salt
- Flour as needed (approximately 1 kg)
- 2 kg apples (ideally Golden or Granny Smith)
- 1 cup sugar for filling
- Cinnamon to taste
- Powdered sugar for decoration (optional)

Preparation method:

1. Preparing the dough: In a large bowl, mix the warm water with the sunflower oil. This combination will make the dough softer and more fragrant. Add the 3 tablespoons of sugar and a pinch of salt, mixing gently. Dissolve the yeast cube in the water and oil mixture. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the yeast starts to foam, a sign that it is active.

2. Adding the flour: Start adding flour gradually, mixing with a wooden spoon or your hands. Knead the dough until it becomes soft and does not stick to your fingers. Make sure not to add too much flour, otherwise, the pie will be dry. Once you have a homogeneous dough, cover it with a clean towel and let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.

3. Preparing the apple filling: Meanwhile, peel the apples, remove the seeds, and slice them thinly. In a pan, sauté the apples with 1 cup of sugar and cinnamon until they soften and release their juices. This step is essential for achieving an intense caramelized apple flavor.

4. Assembling the pie: After the dough has risen, divide it into two equal parts. Roll out the first sheet on a baking tray, using flour to prevent sticking. Prick the sheet in several places with a fork to allow steam to escape during baking. Bake this sheet in the preheated oven at 180°C for 5 minutes.

5. Adding the filling: Remove the tray from the oven and add the sautéed apple filling. Cover with the second sheet of dough, prick again in several places, and bake the pie for 30-40 minutes until golden and well browned.

6. Finalizing: After baking, let the pie cool slightly, then sprinkle powdered sugar on top for an elegant appearance. Cut into portions and serve warm or at room temperature.

Useful tips:

- You can experiment with different types of apples, each bringing a distinct note to the pie.
- For added flavor, you can add some chopped nuts or raisins to the apple filling.
- If you want to add a citrus note, you can incorporate lemon zest into the filling for a contrast of flavors.

This Lenten apple pie is not just a simple recipe but also an excellent way to bring joy to every meal. Enjoy it alongside a cup of tea or coffee, and delight in the authentic taste of caramelized apples!
