Baklava ice cream
To create a special dessert, we start by rolling out a sheet of freshness on a flat surface. We take the ice cream out of the box and let it soften at room temperature for 20-30 minutes. This step is essential for shaping the ice cream into an even rectangular form. Once it reaches the desired consistency, we put it back in the freezer to harden perfectly. While the ice cream cools, we prepare the baklava sheet.
We melt the butter in a pan over low heat, being careful not to burn it. Meanwhile, we take the nuts and hazelnuts and chop them finely with a knife, so that we get small pieces, but not so ground that they become powder. With a brush, we grease each sheet of dough with melted butter. Then, we generously sprinkle the chopped nuts and hazelnuts on each sheet, repeating this process for all 8 sheets. It is important to ensure that each layer is well greased and that the nuts are evenly distributed.
After we finish preparing the sheets, we cut the dough into triangles. We preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius and line a tray with baking paper. We place the triangles in the tray, making sure to leave a little space between them to allow for even baking. We bake them in the oven for about 20 minutes, carefully monitoring the process to ensure they do not burn. The baklava should take on a beautiful golden hue on the surface.
While the baklava bakes, we prepare the syrup. In a saucepan, we combine the 8 tablespoons of sugar with honey, cinnamon, vanilla essence, and the freshly squeezed juice from an orange. We let the mixture simmer over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar completely dissolves and the syrup thickens slightly. Once the syrup is ready, we take it off the heat and let it cool a bit.
When the baklava is baked, we take it out of the oven and generously brush it with the orange syrup, allowing it to absorb the flavors. We let it cool slightly, and in the meantime, we take care of the ice cream. We take it out of the freezer, unwrap it from the foil, and cut it into small triangles suitable for interleaving with the baklava.
For assembly, we place a triangle of baklava on a plate, followed by a triangle of ice cream and then another triangle of baklava. Repeat this process for each serving, creating a dessert with delicious layers. This combination of textures and flavors will leave an unforgettable impression on all who savor it!
