The recipe I propose is simple but extremely delicious and can become a staple in any kitchen! We start with a slice of bread, preferably rustic bread, which will add an extra touch of flavor. Take the slice, remove its crumb, keeping only the crust, which will act as a perfect container for the eggs. This technique not only reduces bread waste but also provides a unique visual aspect to the final dish.
So, after removing the crumb, we place a non-stick pan on low heat to better control the temperature. We add a few drops of olive oil, which will give a wonderful taste and prevent the crust from sticking to the pan. Olive oil is an excellent choice due to its nutritional benefits and rich flavors.
Once the oil is heated, we place the bread crust in the pan and prepare to add the stars of this dish: the eggs! We carefully crack two eggs and pour them inside the bread crust, taking care not to break them. The heat should be low so that the eggs cook evenly and do not burn.
Here comes the magic! We let the eggs fry slowly until the white becomes opaque and starts to coagulate, while the yolk remains creamy. After a few minutes, we use a spatula to carefully flip the bread crust, frying it on the other side as well. It will become crispy and golden, providing a pleasant contrast to the soft eggs.
When the dish is ready, we can move on to the toppings. Fresh tomatoes, sliced or diced, are an excellent choice. They add freshness and a touch of acidity, perfect for balancing the rich taste of the eggs and the fried bread. Additionally, everyone can add their choice of toppings, such as avocado or feta cheese, to personalize the dish.
Don’t forget to season well! A generous pinch of salt, freshly ground pepper, and a little paprika will transform this simple breakfast into a feast for the senses.
