Apple Strudel
To prepare these delicious apple rolls, start by gathering all the necessary ingredients. You will need flour, water, oil, sugar, fresh apples, butter, and cinnamon. These simple ingredients will transform into an irresistible dessert, perfect for any occasion. In a large bowl, mix the flour with a pinch of salt and gradually add water, then the oil. Knead the dough passionately until it becomes elastic and smooth. This will be the delicious base for your rolls. Once you have achieved the desired consistency, wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour, to firm up a bit and make it easier to roll out.
Meanwhile, wash and peel the apples. Grate them finely and squeeze them to remove excess juice. Then, in a pan, melt the butter and add the grated apples along with the sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the apples become soft and the juice reduces significantly. This mixture will form the sweet and fragrant filling for the rolls. Once the apples have cooled, add the cinnamon, which will provide a special flavor and an inviting aroma.
After the dough has chilled, brush it with a little oil to prevent sticking and roll it out with a rolling pin on a clean surface as thin as possible. Use oil on your hands to help stretch the dough. Once you have obtained a thin sheet, brush it again with oil and evenly sprinkle sugar over the entire surface. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius and bake the rolls for 30-40 minutes, until they are golden and browned. While baking, prepare a delicious caramel syrup. Caramelize the sugar in a pot, being careful not to burn it. Once the sugar turns golden, cautiously add a little water, stirring until it completely melts.
10-15 minutes before the rolls are ready, brush them with the warm caramel syrup and sprinkle brown sugar on top. Put them back in the oven, where they will continue to brown and develop a crispy crust. After they have cooled slightly, place the rolls on a rack to cool completely.
