On a day when the craving for something sweet strikes, cookie bombs are the ideal solution. This simple and quick dessert will not only provide you with a sweet indulgence but also the joy of preparing it, considering it requires no baking and can be customized according to your preferences. Moreover, it is perfect for serving at parties or family gatherings.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooling time: 1 hour
Total time: 1 hour and 20 minutes
Number of servings: 20 bombs
Ingredients:
- 300 g plain biscuits (choose quality biscuits for better taste)
- 5 tablespoons sugar (you can adjust the amount according to your preferences)
- 400 ml water
- 50 g margarine (for a vegan option, but you can use butter for a richer taste)
- Rum (to taste, for flavor)
- 100 g raisins (make sure they are of good quality)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (for an intense taste)
- Chopped nuts and hazelnuts (for rolling)
Instructions:
1. Start by crushing the biscuits. You can use a blender to turn them into fine crumbs, but keep some larger pieces for texture. This will add a pleasant contrast in every bite.
2. In a small bowl, soak the raisins in rum for about 10 minutes. This step will enhance the flavor of the raisins and contribute to the moisture of the bombs.
3. In a saucepan, add the sugar and let it caramelize over medium heat. You will know it’s ready when it turns brown. Be careful not to burn it, as it will become bitter.
4. Once the sugar has caramelized, add the margarine and water. Stir continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved and you have a smooth syrup. Let it boil for a few minutes, then remove from heat.
5. In a large bowl, combine the crushed biscuits with cocoa, vanilla extract, soaked raisins, and the rum they were soaked in. Mix well to ensure an even distribution of flavors.
6. Pour the hot syrup over the biscuit mixture and mix well until everything is evenly coated. Let the mixture cool for 10 minutes.
7. After the mixture has cooled slightly, form small balls from the mixture (about 2-3 cm in diameter).
8. To give them a delicious look and an extra flavor, roll the bombs in chopped nuts and hazelnuts. This step not only adds a crunchy taste but also makes the dessert more attractive.
9. Place the bombs on a plate and let them chill in the refrigerator for about an hour to firm up.
Serving suggestions:
Serve the cookie bombs on a nice platter, alongside a cup of coffee or tea. You can also sprinkle a little cocoa or powdered sugar on top for a pleasant visual effect.
Possible variations:
- Replace raisins with other dried fruits, such as apricots or cranberries.
- You can add chopped nuts to the mixture to enrich the texture.
- If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and replace it with vanilla essence or almond flavor.
