Blueberry Jam
Ingredients: 1 kg blueberries 1 kg sugar
Blueberries, these small and delicious berries, are a true treasure of nature. We start by carefully washing the blueberries, making sure to remove any impurities or foreign bodies. It is important to handle them gently so as not to ruin their shape and texture. After washing them, we place them in a large bowl, add sugar, and gently mix to coat them evenly. We let the mixture sit in the cold for about two hours. This step is essential as it allows the blueberries to release their natural juice, transforming into a delicious syrup.
After the two hours, we put the mixture to boil in a pot over low heat. It is important to maintain a low temperature so that the jam cooks slowly and evenly. During the approximately 70 minutes of boiling, we stir occasionally to prevent sticking. The sweet and intense aroma of the blueberries will fill the entire kitchen, bringing a sense of warmth and comfort.
Towards the end of the boiling time, we take a spoonful of the jam and put it in the fridge for a few minutes. This simple trick will help us check the consistency of the jam. If, after cooling, the jam has a slightly sticky texture and holds together, we are ready to continue our process.
To preserve this delicacy, we prepare our jars. They must be properly sterilized to ensure that the jam will last over time. Once the jam is ready, we pour it hot into the sterilized jars, being careful not to leave air bubbles inside, which could affect the quality of the final product.
After filling the jars, we close them tightly and wrap them in a warm blanket, allowing them to cool gradually. This process helps to form a perfect vacuum, sealing the lid and ensuring that our jam will remain fresh and tasty for a long time. Once the jars have completely cooled, we can label them and store them in the pantry, waiting to be enjoyed on toast or in various desserts. This recipe not only gives us a delicious jam but also brings us the joy of savoring summer in every jar.
