Onion Stew
To create a delicious dish, we start with an onion that we will chop finely. We put it to sauté in a pan with a little heated oil, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking. When the onion becomes translucent and releases its aroma, we add the bell pepper, which we have diced into small cubes. The bell pepper will add not only a splash of color but also a crunchy texture to our dish. We continue to sauté the mixture, allowing the ingredients to combine for about 20 minutes, until the bell pepper becomes soft and slightly caramelized.
After the two ingredients have blended well, we come in with fresh tomatoes. We will chop them into large cubes to add extra juiciness and flavor. At this stage, we also add a few thinly sliced garlic cloves, which will provide an intense and aromatic taste. Among our ingredients are also bay leaves and thyme, two essential herbs that will give a special fragrance to the dish. We make sure to add salt and pepper to taste, to enhance the flavors.
After adding all the ingredients, we pour a cup of water into the pan. This water will help form a delicious sauce that will bind all the flavors together. We mix well, then cover the pan with a lid, reducing the heat to a minimum. We let the mixture simmer gently for 30-40 minutes. During this time, the ingredients will cook lightly, and the flavors will concentrate, transforming into a rich and savory sauce.
Along the way, it is good to check occasionally, stirring gently to ensure it does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Finally, when the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded perfectly, we can serve the dish alongside a side of rice or fresh bread, which will absorb all the delicious sauce. This simple yet flavorful recipe will surely become one of your family's favorites.
