Sanghai Chicken - A Quick and Delicious Recipe
If you are looking for a simple and tasty recipe that will delight your taste buds without taking too long, then the Sanghai Chicken recipe is the perfect choice for you. This dish, inspired by Asian cuisine, has been adapted to fit our Romanian style, making it ideal for moments when time is limited but the appetite is large. Perfect for a quick dinner or a hearty lunch, this dish will surprise you with its unmistakable flavor.
Ingredients (for 4 servings):
- 500-600 g of chicken breast (a tray of sliced chicken)
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 3 tablespoons (about 50 g) of quality mustard
- ¼ teaspoon of freshly ground pepper
- 2 eggs
- A bunch of fresh parsley
- 50 g of flour
- Salt, to taste
- About 200 ml of oil for frying
Preparation time:
- Preparation time: 15 minutes
- Cooking time: 10 minutes
- Total time: 25 minutes
Instructions:
1. Prepare the ingredients: If you haven’t bought sliced chicken breast, cut it into strips about 1 cm wide. This step will save you time and help with even cooking.
2. Create the batter: In a medium bowl, beat the two eggs. Add the mustard, finely chopped parsley, crushed garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until you get a homogeneous composition.
3. Prepare the chicken: Dredge the chicken strips in flour, ensuring they are evenly coated. This step will not only help form a crispy crust but also absorb the flavors from the egg mixture.
4. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet, add the oil and heat it well. Test the oil temperature by adding a drop of the egg mixture; if it sizzles, it’s time to add the chicken.
5. Fry the chicken: Start adding the chicken strips to the skillet, being careful not to overcrowd it. Fry the strips for 3-4 minutes on each side until they turn golden and crispy. Remove them to a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
6. Serving: You can serve Sanghai Chicken alongside a fresh salad, tomatoes, and green onions for a contrast of textures and flavors. Additionally, a glass of dry white wine will perfectly complement this dish.
Practical tips:
- Choose a quality mustard: The quality of the mustard will influence the final taste of the dish. Opt for a mustard with an intense flavor.
- Vary the ingredients: You can add spices like paprika or herbs to customize the recipe. You can also replace parsley with basil or coriander for a different flavor.
- Alternative serving: Instead of a salad, you can serve Sanghai Chicken with a side of rice, which will absorb the delicious flavors of the mustard and garlic.
This Sanghai Chicken recipe is not only simple but also versatile, giving you the opportunity to experiment and find the perfect combination for your tastes. Enjoy your meal!
