Festive Biscuits
In a large bowl, we will start by adding the dry ingredients: flour, powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, grated lemon peel, vanilla sugar packets, and baking powder. These aromatic and finely ground ingredients will form the delicious base of our cookies. We mix well to ensure that the flavors blend harmoniously. Then, we add 100 g of lard, which will provide a tender and rich texture. We continue to mix with a spatula or by hand until the lard is fully incorporated into the mixture.
Next comes the interesting part: we gradually add 12 tablespoons of water and then start kneading. We knead patiently and passionately until the dough becomes homogeneous and elastic. The dough should be easy to shape but not sticky. Once we achieve the desired consistency, we take a piping bag with a larger tip. If we don’t have a piping bag, we can use a teaspoon moistened in water to form dough balls.
Meanwhile, we preheat the oven to a medium temperature. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, we start shaping the cookies into the desired forms. Imagination is key here: we can create circles, sticks, waves, or anything else that inspires us. We can also decorate the cookies with pieces of colored marshmallow, nuts, crushed walnuts, or even chocolate for an extra flavor boost.
Once all the cookies are shaped, we place the tray in the preheated oven. We let them bake at low heat for 9-12 minutes until they turn golden and release their inviting aroma. Finally, we take the tray out of the oven and let the cookies cool on a rack. After they have completely cooled, we dust the cookies with vanilla-flavored powdered sugar, which will give them a festive appearance and a special aroma.
Once finished, we can carefully place them in an airtight container, where they will be kept for the upcoming holiday days. The longer they sit, the better and more tender they become, providing loved ones with an unforgettable culinary experience. These cookies are perfect to be enjoyed alongside a cup of tea or coffee, bringing a touch of joy in every bite.
