Tiramisu with coffee and liqueur flavor

When it comes to desserts, Tiramisu is undoubtedly a favorite for many. With creamy textures and a perfect combination of coffee and sweetness, this Italian dessert has captured the hearts and taste buds of people around the world. It is said that its name, 'Tiramisu', translates to 'pick me up', referencing the energizing effect of coffee. In this recipe, we will add a personal touch by using a herbal-flavored liqueur, which will transform the dessert into a true culinary masterpiece.

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Refrigeration time: 5 hours (ideally 1 night)
Number of servings: 8-10

Ingredients:
- 1 pack of ladyfingers (400-500 g)
- 500 g Mascarpone cheese
- 4-5 eggs (preferably fresh)
- 150 g sugar
- 400-500 ml Espresso coffee (or strong coffee)
- A few tablespoons of liqueur (brandy, rum, or a herbal extract liqueur)
- A 250 g container of whipped cream

Preparation:

1. Start by brewing the coffee. Use 500 ml of Espresso coffee, which will add an intense flavor to your dessert. If you want a quicker option, you can use instant coffee, but freshly brewed coffee is always preferable.

2. After the coffee has cooled slightly, add a few tablespoons of liqueur. I used a liqueur with 35% alcohol and herbal flavors, which gave it a distinct note. The liqueur is not a necessity, but it will certainly enhance the taste of your Tiramisu.

3. In a large bowl, separate the yolks from the whites. Use 4-5 eggs; add the sugar to the yolks and mix with a mixer until the mixture becomes light in color and fluffy. This step is essential for achieving an airy texture.

4. Add the Mascarpone cheese directly from the fridge. It is important to use cold cheese, as it will help maintain a smooth texture. Gently mix to avoid losing air in the mixture.

5. Instead of using the egg whites, I decided to use a 250 g container of whipped cream. Whip the cream until it becomes firm, but do not overdo it, so it doesn't turn into butter. Gently fold the whipped cream into the yolk and Mascarpone mixture using a spatula, taking care to keep the air in the mixture.

6. Once the mixture is smooth, refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes. This step will help firm up the cream and blend the flavors.

7. Meanwhile, prepare the ladyfingers. Dip each ladyfinger on one side into the brewed coffee, being careful not to leave them too long, or they will get too soggy. Arrange them in an even layer on the bottom of a tray, making sure not to leave any gaps.

8. Cover the first layer of ladyfingers with a generous layer of cream, then dust with cocoa. Repeat this process until you run out of ladyfingers and cream, ensuring that the last layer is cream.

9. Finally, lightly dust with cocoa, which will not only add an elegant look but also intensify the flavor of the dessert.

10. Let the Tiramisu chill in the fridge for at least 5 hours, but ideally overnight. This way, the flavors will intensify, and the textures will combine perfectly.

Tip from experience: If you are impatient and want to enjoy the dessert sooner, you can pour a little leftover coffee over the ladyfingers to soak them better. This simple trick will help achieve a moister and more delicious Tiramisu.

Nutritional benefits: Tiramisu is a dessert that, due to its ingredients, provides a quick source of energy. Mascarpone cheese contains healthy fats, and coffee brings antioxidants. However, it is a calorie-rich dessert, so enjoy it in moderation.
