Dry bread can be a real treasure in the kitchen, especially when we are faced with a surplus of bread. There is no need to throw it away; there are plenty of creative ways to use it. One of the most delicious solutions is to make flavored croutons, which can turn an ordinary cream soup into a true feast. Let's get started!

To prepare these croutons, we need 4-5 cloves of garlic. Our knife will become the main tool; we need to crush the garlic to release its intense aroma. After we have crushed it well, we will gradually add olive oil, mixing constantly, just as we do when making mayonnaise. It is important to use quality oil, as it will influence the final taste of the croutons. We add salt or seasoning, according to preference, and a handful of finely chopped parsley for an added freshness. Finally, we add a small cup of water, which will help achieve a more fluid consistency of the mixture.

Next, we cut the dry bread into cubes of about 2 cm. These will become our crunchy and delicious croutons. We place the bread cubes on a baking tray and generously drizzle them with the garlic, oil, and spice mixture. It is essential to ensure that each cube is well coated so that the flavors infuse evenly.

After mixing well, we place the tray in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius. The baking time will vary, but generally, the croutons are ready when they become golden and crispy. It is important to check them periodically to avoid excessive browning. Personally, I like to leave them a little longer in the oven to achieve a crunchier texture, but it is a matter of preference.

Once the croutons are ready, we take them out of the oven and let them cool slightly. They can be enjoyed as they are, but they can also be the secret ingredient in various salads or soups. I love to add them to warm salads, such as the one with chicken livers in wine, where the crunchy texture perfectly contrasts with the softer ingredients. In short, bread croutons not only help us reduce food waste but also add a boost of flavor to our favorite dishes. So, don't hesitate! Today is the perfect time to turn dry bread into a delicacy!
