Apple Pie

 Ingredients: Pie crust: 1 cup warm milk, 2 eggs, flour, a pinch of salt, sugar to taste, half a cube of yeast. Filling: 1.5 kg apples, 1 cup sugar (depends on how sour the apples are), cinnamon.

To start preparing this delicious dessert, we will mix the yeast with a teaspoon of sugar, watching how it becomes liquid, a true sign that it is active and ready to begin fermentation. This mixture is essential for obtaining a fluffy and airy dough, so do not skip this step. Once the yeast is activated, we will add it over the sifted flour in a large bowl, along with the warm milk and the other ingredients. It is important that the milk is not hot, so as not to destroy the yeast. We mix all the ingredients with a spatula or with our hands until we obtain a dough that is slightly firmer than that intended for bread. We cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise for about 30 minutes in a warm place until it doubles in volume.

In the meantime, we take care of the apple filling. We take the apples, peel them, and grate them, then put them in a pan with a little sugar and cinnamon. Over medium heat, we sauté the apples until they become slightly soft and caramelized, their aroma perfectly blending with the cinnamon. After about 5-7 minutes, we let them cool to room temperature.

After the dough has risen, we divide it into four equal parts. We take the first piece of dough and roll it out with a rolling pin on a floured surface, obtaining a thin sheet. This will be the base of our pie. We place it in a greased baking dish or lined with parchment paper, making sure it fits perfectly to the size of the dish.

We preheat the oven to 160-170 degrees Celsius. We bake the first sheet for about 10 minutes until it hardens slightly. Then, we take the dish out of the oven and add the cooled apple filling, spreading it evenly. We continue to roll out the other sheets of dough, placing them on top of the filling, repeating the baking process.

In the end, to give the pie an attractive appearance, we brush a beaten egg over the last sheet. We sprinkle sugar on top, which will caramelize nicely during baking, providing a crunchy texture. We let the pie bake for about 45 minutes until it becomes golden and appetizing. After we take it out, we let it cool a bit before cutting and enjoying it. This apple pie will bring a touch of joy in every bite!
