Semolina with Milk
To prepare a delicious semolina dessert, start by gathering all the necessary ingredients: milk, sugar, vanilla sugar or a few drops of vanilla essence, semolina, grated lemon zest, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Make sure you have a large saucepan and a whisk on hand to achieve a smooth mixture.
Put the milk, sugar, and vanilla sugar or vanilla essence in the saucepan and place it on the stove over medium heat. Stir constantly to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Wait until the mixture begins to boil, at which point you can gradually add the semolina in a rain-like manner, continuously whisking. It is essential to mix quickly and consistently to prevent lumps from forming. Continue to boil the mixture over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the semolina thickens and becomes creamy. If you notice that the mixture is too liquid, you can add a little more semolina; on the other hand, if it has thickened too much, add a little milk to bring the mixture to the desired consistency.
Once the semolina is ready, take the saucepan off the heat and add the grated lemon zest to give it a fresh and aromatic taste. Beat an egg and incorporate it into the semolina mixture, mixing well to distribute it evenly.
Prepare a clean work surface and sprinkle breadcrumbs on it to prevent sticking. Pour the semolina mixture onto the work surface, leveling it with a spoon to form an even layer about 1-1.5 cm high. Allow it to cool completely so that it hardens and can be easily cut into desired shapes, either diamonds or squares.
After the semolina has cooled, cut it into portions and prepare a beaten egg in a bowl. Dip each piece in the beaten egg, then in the breadcrumbs, ensuring they are evenly coated. Heat oil in a deep frying pan, and once it is hot, fry the semolina pieces until they become golden and crispy on all sides. After frying, let them drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
To finish, sprinkle powdered vanilla sugar over the fried portions and serve them immediately while they are warm and crispy. These semolina bites are perfect as a dessert or snack, offering a delicious combination of textures and flavors that will delight any sweet tooth. Enjoy every bite!
