I present to you a dessert that will not only impress with its taste but also with its rustic appearance, requiring no advanced decorating skills. The festive walnut cake is perfect for any occasion, from birthdays to holidays. The simple ingredients and easy-to-follow technique make this cake an ideal choice for cooking enthusiasts.

Ingredients

For the cake base:
- 1 vanilla pod
- 200 g butter (at room temperature)
- 3 eggs
- 150 g honey
- 150 g flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 150 g walnuts, ground
- 100 ml whiskey cream liqueur

For the cream and decoration:
- 100 g white chocolate
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee powder
- 500 ml whipped cream
- 3-4 tablespoons whiskey cream liqueur
- 3-4 tablespoons ground walnuts

For the sesame bars:
- 100 g sugar
- 1 cube of butter
- Sesame seeds

Step by step

1. Preparing the base: Start by preheating the oven to 180°C. Cut the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with the tip of a knife. This natural flavor will add a special taste to your cake.

2. Beat the butter: In a large bowl, beat the butter with a mixer until creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Then, incorporate the honey and vanilla seeds. It’s important that all ingredients are at room temperature for perfect blending.

3. Mix the dry ingredients: In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and ground walnuts. Add the dry mixture to the wet composition, mixing with a spatula until well combined. Then, pour in the liqueur and mix again.

4. Bake the base: Pour the obtained batter into a cake pan lined with baking paper. Place the pan in the preheated oven and let it bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. After baking, let the base cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

5. Prepare the chocolate cream: In a small pot, dissolve the coffee powder in 100 ml of liquid cream and bring to a boil. Pour the hot mixture over the chopped white chocolate and stir until completely melted. Add the liqueur and let the mixture cool.

6. Whip the cream: Once the chocolate cream has cooled, whip the remaining 400 ml of cream until firm. Gently fold the chocolate cream into the whipped cream, mixing lightly.

7. Prepare the sesame bars: In a pan, melt the sugar and butter cube over medium heat, stirring constantly. When the sugar is completely melted, add the sesame seeds and mix well. Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet, spreading it into a thin layer. Once it has hardened slightly, use a knife to mark lines where you will cut the bars.

8. Assemble the cake: Once the base has cooled completely, place the chocolate cream on top. It’s a rustic cake, so don’t worry about a perfect appearance. You can apply cream on the sides as well, if desired. Finally, decorate with the caramelized sesame bars.

9. Serving: The festive walnut cake is best served once it has completely cooled. I recommend serving it with a glass of whiskey cream liqueur to enhance the flavors.

Personal suggestion: If you want to add a touch of freshness, you can top the cake with some seasonal fruits like raspberries or blueberries.

This simple and elegant festive walnut cake recipe will delight both you and your loved ones. Enjoy every bite!
