Looking for a quick and simple recipe to impress your friends or family? Simple eggless rolls are the perfect choice! These delicate and delicious rolls can be filled with various creams, jams, or chocolate, giving you the opportunity to be creative in the kitchen.
Ingredients:
- 200 g wheat flour
- 100 g sugar
- 1 packet of baking powder (about 10 g)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 180 ml milk (or plant-based milk for a vegan option)
- 60 ml oil (sunflower or coconut oil)
- Vanilla flavor (or rum essence, to taste)
For filling (optional):
- Fruit jam (raspberry, apricot, strawberry)
- Chocolate cream
- Cottage cheese with sugar and vanilla
- Fresh fruits
Instructions:
1. Start by preheating the oven to 180°C. Prepare a baking tray (about 30x40 cm) with parchment paper, ensuring it is well spread to prevent the dough from sticking.
2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix the dry ingredients well to ensure the baking powder is evenly distributed.
3. In another container, add the milk, oil, and vanilla flavor. Gently whisk these ingredients together with a whisk or fork to combine.
4. Pour the liquid mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use a mixer or spatula to combine everything. Mix until you obtain a homogeneous composition that pulls away from the sides of the bowl and forms a ball.
5. Divide the dough into four equal parts. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the first piece of dough into a thin sheet, about 5 mm thick. Be careful not to roll it too thin, to avoid tearing.
6. Transfer the sheet of dough to the prepared tray and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until it becomes lightly golden and elastic. Repeat the process for the other pieces of dough.
7. Once the rolls are baked, let them cool for a few minutes in the tray, then turn them onto a rack to cool completely.
8. Once the rolls are cooled, it’s time to fill them! Spread a uniform layer of jam, chocolate cream, or cottage cheese on each sheet of dough. You can also add fresh fruits for an extra touch of freshness.
9. Carefully roll each sheet, starting from a short side, making sure to tighten them well but without breaking them. Cut the rolls into slices of about 2 cm to get perfectly sized portions.
Serving suggestions:
Serve the simple eggless rolls on a beautiful platter, dusted with powdered sugar or chocolate sauce. They are perfect for a party or as a quick dessert during the week.
Possible variations:
- Instead of jam, you can use a cream cheese with herbs for a savory appetizer.
- Add cocoa to the dough to create a chocolate roll.
- Experiment with different flavors by adding cinnamon or lemon zest to the dough.
