To prepare a delicious recipe for sausages in dough, start by activating the yeast. In a small bowl, combine the yeast with a tablespoon of sugar and add a little warm milk. Mix well to homogenize the composition, then add a teaspoon of flour. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it sit in a warm place for 10-15 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy and doubles in volume.
Meanwhile, in another bowl, sift the flour and add the salt. This will help develop the flavors in the dough. After the yeast has risen, add it to the flour mixture along with the oil and the rest of the warm milk. Start kneading the dough with your hands until it becomes elastic and easily separates from the bowl and your palms. If needed, add a little more warm milk so that the dough has a suitable consistency, soft but not sticky. Once you have achieved the ideal dough, cover it with a towel and let it rise in a warm place, away from drafts, until it doubles in volume.
After the dough has risen, sprinkle a little flour on the work surface and roll out a rectangular sheet directly on a baking paper, the size of the tray (25 x 35 cm). Using a knife or a spatula, cut the dough into strips about 2 cm wide, being careful not to cut all the way to the edges. Now is the time to add the sausages; take a sausage and weave it among the strips of dough, alternating so that there is about 5-8 cm of space between each sausage.
Once you have finished arranging the sausages, transfer everything to the tray, making sure to keep the baking paper. Brush the dough with a beaten egg yolk mixed with a little milk to achieve a golden and appetizing crust. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the tray inside, leaving it to bake until the dough is nicely browned and well cooked.
After about 20-25 minutes, check if the dough is baked, then remove the tray from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve the sausages warm, alongside your favorite sauce and salad, for a delicious and satisfying meal that will surely impress everyone!
