Spicy Sticks
Here is a simple and delicious recipe, perfect for a special Sunday breakfast, served with love, right in bed. These stuffed baguettes are so easy to prepare that you will be surprised how little time they take. Ideally, you should make them during the week so you can enjoy them worry-free on a relaxing weekend morning.
To start, take a sheet of puff pastry and place it on a clean, floured surface. Roll out the dough into an even rectangle; it doesn't need to be perfect, but it should be thin enough to roll easily. On one half of the dough, place slices of salami, cheese (you can choose your favorite cheese, such as mozzarella or cottage cheese), and herbs like basil or dill, depending on your taste. Once you have evenly distributed the filling, lightly moisten the other half of the dough with water using a pastry brush. This will help seal the two sides of the dough.
Fold the dough over the filling, making sure to remove any air that may accumulate between the ingredients. Use your palms to gently press, ensuring everything is well sealed. Now, using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 1.5 - 2 cm wide. Each strip can be gently twisted to give it an appealing shape.
Place the baguettes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Beat an egg and brush each baguette with it, then sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top, depending on your preferences. These seeds not only add a delicious flavor but also an attractive appearance. Preheat the oven to a high temperature and bake the baguettes for about 15 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to medium and continue baking until the baguettes are golden and fluffy, with a tempting crust.
Once they are ready, take them out of the oven and let them cool slightly. These delicious baguettes are perfect to be served warm, alongside a chicken soup or a fragrant green tea. They will surely bring a smile to the faces of your loved ones, and you will be appreciated for this simple yet flavorful delicacy. Enjoy your meal!
